RAVE on the Great Western Trail

Event Details

Join Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation for a RAVE (Random Act of Volunteering for the Earth) on the Great Western Trail on Tuesday, April 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. Together, volunteers will help remove brush and invasive species from a patch of remnant prairie along the trail near Cumming, Ia. Volunteers are encouraged to bike down and meet south of the Cumming Tap along the trail. Parking is also available in the lot located at the Great Western Trailhead. No experience is necessary. All tools and equipment will be provided. Volunteers need only bring themselves, a water bottle, shoes that can get muddy and gloves. A change of clothing – preferably long pants – is recommended for cyclists. No RSVP is necessary – just show up! After the event, volunteers will gather at the Cumming Tap to enjoy each other’s company and a well-deserved drink. All volunteers will receive a drink ticket as a token of appreciation for their time and effort. The Cumming Tap is a sponsor of the event. All equipment will be provided. Participants are asked to bring gloves and a refillable water bottle, and wear long pants and sturdy boots or shoes that can get muddy. Contact INHF Volunteer Coordinator Mary Runkel at mrunkkel@inhf.org or 515-288-1846 ext. 17 to RSVP or with questions.
