Please join us in a ride to honor our Mothers! This is a family and beginner friendly event. The route is mostly flat (one small hill) and on paved trails. Highlights include: • Meet at the Hub Spot at 215 Water St., DSM on Sunday, May 8th at 12:45pm • 1, 1.25, 2, 4, and 7 mile out-and-back route option available • Set your own pace and distance: Turn back anytime you chose • No registration required/donation only • Stop at the DSM Botanical Garden on your way back to celebrate National Garden Day (free admission for all Mother's & the 1st 100 children riding) • Water available at stops 2 and 4 • Need help getting a helmet? Call the Collective shop 515-288-8020 The Mother’s Day Ride Route: Start/Stop: Riders will meet at the Riverwalk Hub Spot at 12:45pm. The ride will begin at 1pm. The Hub Spot’s café will be open and there will be public bathrooms available. Riders can follow the leader as a group or go at their own pace. You can follow the full route or turn back at anytime or at any of the 5 stops: • From the Hub Spot to the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge and back (1-mile out-and-back) • From the Hub spot to the Asian Garden and back (1.25-miles out-and-back) • From the Hub spot to the Botanical Gardens and back (2-miles out-and-back) • From the Hub Spot to Birdland Park and back (4-miles out-and-back) • From the Hub Spot to Riverview park and back (7-miles out-and-back) Stop 1 (1-mile out-and-back option): Riders will ride north along the west side of the Des Moines River on the Principal Riverwalk Trail to the first stop: the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge. Stop 2 (1.25-mile out-and-back option): Riders will cross the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge and ride north along the east side of the Des Moines River on the John Pat Dorrian Trail to the Robert D. Ray Asian Gardens. There will be water available at this stop (while supplies last). Stop 3 (2-mile out-and-back option & Spring Garden Festival): Riders will continue north on the John Pat Dorrian Trail to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. The Garden will be celebrating Mother’s day with their Spring Garden Festival including a plant sale, educational sessions and activities. Free admission for ALL Mothers and the first 100 children participating in the ride! Stop 4 (4-mile out-and-back option): If the 2-mile route is not long enough, don't let that stop you! Keep riding on the John Pat Dorrian Trail past the Botanical Garden to the Birdland Park and Marina. There will be water available at this stop (while supplies last). Stop 5 (7-mile out-and-back option): If the 4-mile route is not long enough, don't let that stop you! Keep following the trail north (don’t miss the left-hand turn at the end of the Marina) to Riverview Park. Please note that after Birdland Park, the John Pat Dorrian Trail changes name to the Neil Smith Trail.
